Today was the last day of our journey in Japan, we had so many new experiences and met many new people. We had just finished an exhausting day of shopping in Tokyo the day before so we took the time to relax and prepare for the flight ahead. Although most went home with the team, some stayed for a few more days. We checked out of the hotel at 11:00 and said our goodbye to some of our teammates. After a good night’s sleep at their homestays house, the boys packed up their belongings and left to the arena for a 1:00PM game against Bushukan. Having already suffered two losses, everyone was finally ready for a W. It was a hard fought game with unreal commentating coming from the man himself, Jim “Bilbo” Young and his right hand man Jim Engleson. The boys pulled away with a 3-1 win, marking the first time in JCIH history that the Asahi Blades beat Bushukan High School. Our day started off bright and early at 7:30am with a delicious meal prepared from the staff at the Athletes inn, in Kushiro.
After arriving at the Athletes Inn the night before, the Asahi Blades are awoken to a massive breakfast prepared by the incredible hosts.
The Asahi Blades woke up at 7 am to start their day off. The first task on the agenda is to go on a gondola.
Today we woke up at 8:30 checked out of the hotel and packed up the bus. We then drove to the Okurayama ski jump where we took the chair lift to the top and saw the amazing view of the whole city of Sapporo.
The time reads 11 am as the player hopefuls arrive at YVR, ready to check our bags in. As we say goodbye to our families, the reality starts to kick in that a trip of a life time is about to take place.
